A LITTLE OF THE DILLIMORES HISTORY...

Dillimores began in 1939 when two local families – Seath and Dillimore, formed a partnership. The Waihi interiors store was originally known as Seath & Dillimore – Cabinet Makers and Funeral Directors. So as well as making roll-top desks, china cabinets and cocktail cabinets etc the partners Claude Dillimore and Dave Seath had a very important role in the community with families facing loss and grief.

FUNERAL DIRECTORS & FURNITURE MAKERS

Back in the early days of Seath and Dillimores a funeral cost around 30 pounds, Noeline Dillimore the current director of the store still has all the funeral records from that era!

In the late 1950’s the company split to become C.C. Dillimore & Co. Claude Dillimore retained the shop and Dave the furniture factory and funeral business.

Rex Dillimore

Claude Dillimore’s son Rex took up an apprenticeship with Dave when he left school and then in 1961 joined his father in the store as a carpet layer. Rex together with his wife Noeline ran Dillimores until Rex’s  sudden and very sad passing in 2015.

DILLIMORES TODAY...

Noeline Dillimore and her wonderful staff now run the Dillimore’s store, they have customers from all over New Zealand with the rapid growth of Waihi and Waihi Beach. There would be very few stores in New Zealand with such a proud and successful history!
